MIDS stood out to me from the very start of my graduate program search because of how smartly the program is designed. In particular, the curricular flexibility, the reputation of the faculty, the strong industry-focus of the program, and of course the one-of-a-kind year-long capstone made me instantly prefer MIDS over my other options.
What excites you about data science?
I fell in love with data science when I realized that through it I could produce products and services of tremendous value to people and businesses. Being able to use my years of fascination with and knowledge of statistics and programming to touch people’s lives in increasingly positive and innovative ways keeps me hooked onto this career path and hungry to learn more.
What research area are you most interested in?
I am most interested in the social science research applications of data science. As an intern in the Data Analytics department of the Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan, I got to work on social science data relating to education, public health, and more every day and I found the experience to be extremely rewarding. However, I am always open to any research area that will allow me to utilize my passion for data science and analytics.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In the little free time I have, I love to cook, spend time with my friends and family, and watch Japanese anime.
What is one interesting fact about you?
I am the first person in my family who decided to not attend a specialized art school or pursue a career in art/design. I now apply the artistic sense I inherited from my parents to every data visualization I make.
