Data Science lets me use math and technology to solve the biggest of problems from one corner of my room- It makes me feel significant and powerful. The MIDS program at Duke not only will enable me to learn and use these tools for problem-solving but will help me concentrate on how multiple disciplines and industries apply data sciences to simplify critical problem statements.

What excites you about data science?

Data Science combines two of my favorite things- programming and mathematics. It also enables me to predict things or even gain insights into the current scenario. the ability of this tool to help understand a problem, the subject or even the industry is immense. It intrigues me to know that there are multiple tools and techniques in this field which have diverse applications. The amount of learning this field needs and provides is exciting.

What research area are you most interested in?

I am most interested in learning about and conducting research on simulation tools like Agent-Based Modelling clubbed with predictive analytical tools like Reinforcement learning. Using these, I want to study how new technologies like Blockchain and IoT play with Data Sciences to create large scale solutions. I want to study the application of these concepts in the Energy sector and even the manufacturing and retail industries.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to learn something new every time I get some time to spare. I have used my time to learn a bit of pottery, cooking, video editing, multiple spoken languages, and even fine arts. I like to paint and write. I used to write articles and papers as a freelancer for multiple technology-based companies. I also like solving puzzles like the Rubik's cube, the snake cube, etc.

What is one interesting fact about you?

I am a self-taught artist who has explored most art-forms on her own. I am good with graffiti and was the first in my undergrad school to create an array of graffiti paintings lining the streets of our campus for our technical fest. This started a trend of doing a graffiti wall for every fest annually.
